We kicked off this driving vacation with a 590-mile day, from Doylestown to Bar Harbor in Maine. We had visited Bar Harbor once before, in 2001, and stayed in the same Cromwell Harbor Motel pictured here. We try to limit our accommodation choices exclusively to motels with slamming screen doors, families with eight or more screaming pre-teens, covens of Pabst Blue Ribbon drinking, Harley-Davidson riding sociopaths playing Metallica at ear-splitting volume until four in the morning, or some combination of the three.
As you might guess, we ate at the West Street Cafe...
...and still had time to walk the Shore Path.

Uh, what does that sign say?
