Chillin' two.

In the kitchen:

Going for a walk. Mike is tall.

Tom and the big sky.

Kenny. I think this is my favorite picture from the trip, of one of my favorite people. There aren't eight five-year-olds in the universe like this one; I told Dennis (my cousin and Kenny's grandfather) that Kenny was five-going-on-fourteen. He was never obtrusive, could entertain himself if you asked him to, asked intelligent, interested questions, actually listened when you answered, and responded appropriately. Most telling, I would be sitting with different groups of adults (there weren't many kids there) and talking, sometimes for hours, about all sorts of subjects. Every time you thought to look at Kenny, he'd be sitting there listening. No butting in, no need for attention, no boredom, just calm attention. At five! What a great kid.
