This is why they're called boids.
Taken on Lake Galena, Peace Valley Park, at sunrise.
They had a little boid-of-prey exhibit at the Scottish-Celtic Fest at Green Lane Park, September of 2010.
Also from the fest, the Eurasian Eagle Owl.
These last two were taken just a stone's throw from our house, in Doylestown Cemetery, May of 2008. This first is of the baby, whom Sandi first saw on the ground and began to worry over. After a week or so, she--and by that time, half of Doylestown--felt better when he (?) got big enough to jump up onto gravestones, and especially when Mom showed herself. I think they were great-horned owls (bubo virgianis) and were very impressive, about two feet tall with a four foot wingspan.
On a very windy day, just before they moved on.
