We discovered New London, Connecticut, almost by accident and have returned to it three or four times over the years on the way to the Cape, staying at our special B & B (the Red Roof Inn), enjoying the harbor area, Fort Trumbull on the Thames River, and especially Harkness State Park. We, of course, know the location of all the superior facilities. Fort Trumbull right at the beginning of the fishing pier:
On the pier, looking back towards the fort:
Ned's Point Light House, between New London and the Cape, in Matapoisett, Massachusetts:
And finally, across the canal and onto the Cape. First, the Cape Cod Canal Visitor Center:
This is looking northeast into Cape Cod Bay; the canal, which connects the bay on the north to Buzzards Bay on the south and turns the Cape into an island, is on the left.
