We got up around five in the morning in Juneau, left the Sea Lion for the last time, and drove to the glacier. After a visit to the Alaska State Museum we bus-folked it to the airport where we did the interminable security promenade and heel-cooling before our flight to Seattle.
We had an excruciatingly long wait in Seattle for our red-eye to Newark and were getting a little tired.
Sea-Tac airport, eight P.M.
Imagine petite Sandi quietly snoring peacefully next to Bob, with her sleep-mask and her ear plugs and her neck pillow. Then imagine 6'4" Bob crammed into a 5'10" seat, knees to the back of the seat in front---occupied by a three-hundred pound gorilla with ants in his pants---quietly whimpering and thoroughly miserable. Here's a vision of Newark airport after being up for some twenty-two-plus hours. Larry's looking for the phone number to the car service. I'm looking for a large rubber mallet with which to brain either him or myself.
Home:
All joking aside, Larry was an eminently gracious host and amiable traveling companion, Sandi was herself (that's good!), and we had a fantastic time.
